Tanmoy Bose's regularly and profoundly intense association with
music maestros in the stature of Pt. Ravi Shankar & Ustad Amjad Ali
Khan has exposed him to the company and craftsmanship of drummers of
international repute and his thorough involvement in their various
projects. Tanmoy responded to the music that his soul heard and thus
sowed the seed of a future experiment - a musical carnival, the
taaltantra.
The name
taaltantra
comes from taal or rhythm and tantra or occult worship. And here
Tanmoy defines music through his in-depth understanding of rhythm.
Tanmoy takes the
taaltantra
grounds to define the scope of world music as he sees and realises
the music sought from the Indian soil. To realise his intention, his
fingers glide from drumming the Tabla to a plethora of instruments
from all over the globe to catch the spirit of rhythm ruling the
universe. The effects thus achieved through the familiar strokes on
unfamiliar instruments produced the music of universal harmony.
